This 8-day safari offers a rich blend of Tanzania's iconic wildlife and authentic cultural encounters. You will explore major Northern Circuit national parks including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater while staying in budget camping accommodations close to nature.
The journey also includes a unique cultural experience with the Hadzabe and Datoga communities at Lake Eyasi, giving you insight into one of Africa's last remaining hunter-gatherer lifestyles. Expect daily game drives, diverse landscapes, and close encounters with the Big Five in their natural habitat.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy an optional city tour exploring Arusha's key attractions such as local markets, cultural centres, and art galleries.
This is a relaxed and welcoming introduction to Tanzania before your safari adventure begins the following morning.
After breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park — a scenic drive of approximately 2–3 hours. The park is famous for its large elephant populations and ancient baobab trees that tower across the landscape. You will enjoy a full game drive across diverse terrain including savannahs and seasonal swamps, with great chances to spot lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species.
A picnic lunch will be served inside the park before continuing the afternoon game drive and heading to the campsite for dinner and overnight.
The day begins with an early morning game drive in Tarangire, taking advantage of the cool hours when wildlife is most active. Afterwards, continue to Lake Manyara National Park — a compact but incredibly diverse park offering a variety of ecosystems including groundwater forest, lake shores, and open grassy plains.
You may encounter elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, buffalo, flamingos on the lake, and possibly the famous tree-climbing lions. After the game drive, exit the park and transfer to your nearby campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, travel to Lake Eyasi for a truly immersive and unforgettable cultural experience. You will first visit the Datoga community, renowned for their traditional blacksmithing skills and intricate bead jewellery. Then meet the Hadzabe — one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes remaining in Africa — and step into a way of life unchanged for thousands of years.
You will learn about their daily lifestyle, hunting techniques using hand-crafted bows and arrows, and survival skills in the wild. In the afternoon, you may even join them in a live hunting and gathering activity. A rare and humbling experience before heading to the campsite for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, begin your journey toward the legendary Serengeti National Park, passing through scenic highlands and sweeping open plains. If weather permits, stop at the Ngorongoro viewpoint for a breathtaking panoramic view of the crater from the rim.
Enjoy a picnic lunch en route before entering Serengeti for an exciting afternoon game drive. The park offers incredible wildlife viewing including lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, and large migrating herds of wildebeest and zebras. Dinner and overnight at the campsite inside the park — falling asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness.
Today is dedicated entirely to a full-day exploration of Serengeti National Park — one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. You will enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives searching for the Big Five and other species across the vast open plains.
Serengeti is also home to over 500 recorded bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers as well. The open savannah offers excellent opportunities to witness dramatic predator-prey interactions and massive herbivore herds on the move. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight under a spectacular star-filled sky.
Start the day with an early morning game drive as animals are most active at sunrise. After a bush breakfast, continue with another game drive before returning to camp for lunch. The morning hours in Serengeti are always special — predators are on the move and the golden light makes for incredible sightings.
Later in the day, depart Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will arrive at a campsite perched on the crater rim, where you can enjoy stunning views over the caldera at sunset before dinner and overnight stay.
Rise early for the final highlight of your safari — descending into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater with a packed breakfast. The crater floor is home to an extraordinary density of wildlife: lions roaming in large prides, enormous tusker elephants, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, and the critically endangered black rhino.
After fully exploring the crater floor and soaking in this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you ascend and return to the crater rim camp for lunch. From there, begin your drive back to Arusha, arriving in the evening — marking the end of a truly unforgettable 8-day safari adventure.
